Banned by Adsense – How to Reinstate Your Account

If you find yourself in a position where Adsense banned you from the program, here is some information you can read and follow up on.

Banned due to my own illegal clicks

If your account was banned due to you clicking your own ads, or you requesting users to click ads on your behalf, your Adsense account is banned permanently. You will never be given the account back again. Close the chapter on Adsense and move on to alternative advertising programs.

Banned not due to my actions

Step 1 – Stay calm

Remain calm when you receive the notification from Adsense. Do not start an e-mail war with them, you will loose and they will probably no longer want to assist you if you do start this.

Step 2 – Analyze your logs

Start looking at your traffic logs or click reports and identify possible IP’s that may have caused the prejudice.

Step 3 – Take actions

Start taking actions against these IP addresses identified and block them on your server.

Step 4 – Keep notes

Start making the following notes. You will need them when contacting Adsense:

Referring url:
Host name:
IP:
Country:
City:
ISP:
Visit length:
Entry and exit time:

Step 5 – Send Adsense an e-mail

Send Adsense an e-mail informing them of the circumstances. Provide them with the outcome of your investigation and provide the above-mentioned information to them. Very important, inform them of the actions you have taken to prevent future incidents from these offenders.

Remember your main objective is to make it clear to Google that it was not you who conducted the illegal clicks and that you had no knowledge thereof!

Request them to investigate the matter and compare your findings with their logs. Request them to reinstate your account if they do agree that the misuse did not originate on your part.

You can send an e-mail to Adsense using this e-mail: adsense-support@google.com

Step 6 – Complete the Appeal form

Your next step is to go online to Adsense and complete their online appeal form. Provide the same information you did in the e-mail and inform Adsense that you have also sent an e-mail.

Step 7 – Wait for feedback

Now you have to wait for feedback from Adsense. Do not mail them every day or keep completing the appeal form. Give them at least 2 weeks, although they will often get back to you much faster.

If they do reply and decline your request, try the appeal process at least one or two times more. If they keep declining your request, your Adsense account will never be re-instated.

Prevent Your Account from Being Banned

If you have studied the terms and conditions you will understand how Adsense is to be implemented and protect yourself from being banned from the program. Below are some more hints and tips for webmasters in keeping their access to the Adsense programs secure.

Tip 1 – Never click your own ads

At all costs, refrain from clicking your own ads. Adsense has specialized software tracking IP addresses and clicks and is in a position to identify click fraud immediately. Clicking your own ads will result in being banned from the Adsense program. If you want to see what an advertisers’ website look like, rather make use of the Adsense preview tool in your account.

Tip 2 – If possible, do not tell friends and family about your income

If possible, do not tell your friends and family how you are earning income from your website with Adsense. It is just natural that your friends and family will want to support you by visiting your website and clicking your ads. They will not do this to get you banned, but would want to help you with making money. This is what will get you banned.

Tip 3 – Do not ask visitors to click ads

Never, under any circumstances, ask website visitors to click ads or ‘support’ your website to keep it alive. Do not ask for this on your website or for that matter on any other website. Google will see this as you requesting people clicking on your ads and will ban your account.

Tip 4 – Never try to cheat or manipulate Google

Many unscrupulous individuals may sell or advertise methods, black or whitehat, in which you can increase your Adsense earnings. Never, ever, implement these systems, they are often against the terms and conditions of Google and will get you banned.

Tip 5 – Website submission

If you have Adsense ads on your website, it is okay to submit your website to search engines. Never submit your website to Auto Surf or similar websites.

Tip 6 – Images and Adsense

It is contained in the terms and conditions: never place images close to Adsense ad blocks.

Tip 7 – Track user activities

You should, on a daily basis, make use of programs such as Google Analytics or other stats programs monitor user activities on your website. Pay attention to clicks on your website.

Make use of channels within your Adsense account to monitor clicks made by your users.

You can also make use of click tracking software which will identify users misusing your website and Adsense ads.

Tip 8 – Suspicious IP addresses

If you identify any suspicious IP addresses and activities, rather be safe than sorry, and block these IP addresses in your hosting control panel. If you have identified these IP addresses, report them with immediate effect to Google Adsense.

You can report suspicious IP’s by clicking here

Tip 9 – Keep your server secure

Never allow visitors to upload and activate executable files on your server. Malicious users can make use of bots to click ads and get you suspended. If you do have a file hosting site, pay attention to the file types you are allowing and file types that can be activated and cause prejudice.

In your Adsense account you should also place your URL’s in the ‘Allowed Sites’ section. This will protect your Adsense code from illegal external sites that may want to cause harm to you. You can access this facility from your Adsense Setup section in your Adsense account.

Tip 10 – Multiple Adsense accounts

Refrain from signing up for multiple Adsense accounts. The chances are good that Adsense will identify this and ban all your accounts.

Increase Your Adsense Earnings

You as webmaster were approved as publisher in the Google Adsense program, but are you generating the maximum income you can from your visitors? This guide will provide you with some hints and tips in increasing your click-through rate:

Where to place your ads

At all times on all pages, place your Adsense advertisements above the fold of your page. It should be in a visible position, but do not place it right at the top. Research in visitor behavior indicates that visitors generally skip the top of a web page. As mentioned, it should be above the fold where users do not need to scroll before seeing the ad unit.

Website content

You should at all times ensure that you populate your website with new information which is relevant to your site’s keywords and unique. By doing this, the advertisements displayed will be relevant to your website’s content and may earn more per click.

Ad integration

If your website make use of articles of 400 words and longer, it is advisable that you make use of block ads and integrate them into tables within the article. The article will then physically be wrapped around the ads and may increase your click-through rate while visitors read the articles.

Ad colors

Always ensure that your ad colors blend in as much as possible with the text on your website. Attempt to use the same fonts and the same color as your text. Your ad links should also match the color of your general links on your pages.

How many ads?

Adsense allow 3 ad units and 2 link units per web page. If possible, make use of all of these ads where the page content permits it. Do not try to squeeze in too many ads if your pages are not long enough and stick to the minimum ads in these instances.

Ad borders

Do away with ad borders when you set them up in Adsense. Borders clearly identify ads as advertisements and generally do not blend in with your site. This will in fact decrease your click-through rate.

Track progress

You should constantly track your ads income and progress. Try moving your ads around to different locations. Each time you move them, monitor the number of clicks over a certain period of time. Once you have completed experimenting you will know which location will work better for which ads.
